Some of the first things that come to my mind is those beautiful women (Miss World, Miss Universe), and outstanding national parks, and that Angel Falls, it's the world's highest uninterrupted waterfalls, standing at 978 meters tall.
Apparently, to go to Venezuela, you probably need to spend at least 24 hours of flights in total to get there. Imagine all the delicious and mouth-watering food that we missed!
Fret not, the Venezuela Week is here and you can enjoy all the food, right here in Malaysia, at the Pullman KLCC, Eccucino Restaurant!
This Venezuela Gastronomic Festival happening now till 31 Oct!
Yes, this Venezuela Gastronomic Festival is here! Starting from now till 31 Oct! It feature some of Venezuela's iconic and traditional cuisine, which is staple to the local there!
As usual, best to call and make your reservation...
Chef Enrique, Chef Federico and major eater Dee! Even their names is sexy! Damn!
Chef Enrique Limardo and Chef Federico Martin Tischler is tasked to cook up a storm for this festival. Just a bit on our chef, Chef Enrique Limardo is highly coveted, one of it is "Best Cook of the Year 2008" and co-authored some cook books: I Love Aji Dulce and Nuestra cocina a la manera de Caracas. He is currently the executive chef at 'Alma Cocina Latina' in Baltimore USA.
As for Chef Federico, he is the co-executive chef of 'Alma Cocina Latina' in Baltimore USA, also co-authored 'Our Cooking Caracas Style' and appeared in radio programme.
And now, the food galore, I will describe it in captions. :)
I will start with........ the traditional, basic food of Venezuela!
Apparently, this is the Venezuela version of our Nasi Lemak - Coconut rice, banana, black beans - and highlight is the beef! Super soft and full of spices! I thought it will be tough - oh boy, I am wrong. This beef is a must try!
Using the flat bread, you can add beef or any other ingredient, as you wish. Like what chef suggest, it's all about mixing and matching it with ingredients and sauces!
Seafood cocktails! I thought it will be spicy - nope, it's a little sour and flavourful!
Desserts in traditional ingredients!
Quesillo (Venezualen Flan) - in gula melaka!
I love gula melaka and this is just perfect!
This is Bien Mesabe (Coconut Cake) and yes, lots of coconut in the dishes!
Served in small piece, it's almost bite size, this is Torta de Pina (Pineapple Tart).
And look no further, this is Torta de Jojoto (Corn Cake)! It's pretty dense but balance in term of flavour!
You will think this is Pisang Goreng, yes, it is indeed Pisang Goreng. We are closer to Venezuela than you thought! :P
Oh, yes, the highlight of the night for me! Made from tenderloin part, infused with spices and of my goodness kind of tender! I should have taken the whole TRAY!
Cachapas (Fresh Corn Cakes with cheese) - taste macam like pancake but I taste it macam masin, I assume there's garam to it.
This is Arepas - Venezuelan eat this on a daily basis! :)
This is the Arepas station, and you should try all the sauces - the Venezuela style!
Not kimchi for sure. Taste wise, it's not as strong as I thought it would be, but just a bit spicy, like to tease you!
This is the everyday bread for Venezuela as explained by chef; it is Pan de Bono (Cassava Bread).
Roast beef with guasacaca, grilled vege and sauces!
This is Coriander sauce if I am not mistaken
If my memory serve me right, this is avocado and green pepper sauce. This is my first time tasting such sauce and it very suitable with the roasted beef!
Cocktails and salad medley the Venezuela style!
There's more style to eat simple food, eat it plain or add ice cream and cheese!
Desserts!!!!
This is the soup but it is a little too salty for my liking. My suggestion is to go with rice!
This is Green Mango Jelly and I added strawberry sauce to accompany it, living to what chef suggested! Mix and be experimental!
This festival ends on 31 Oct so better book and reserve fast! Call 03-21708888 or email to restaurant@pullman-klcc.com for reservation! The chef and us (Wendy, Deelicious and Rane!)
We definitely had some good time there! Hope you have a good time at this gastronomic deal! :)
There's something for us to be excited gentlemen! We got a total range dedicated to men - for our grooming pleasures!
This time, it's L'OCCITANE.
It's definitely big news for all of us men! It is a permanent range (means available throughout the whole year, non-seasonal) that consists of skincare and fragrance.
I mean, you don't exactly see much new launches for men's specific range in the market, let alone skincare. Which is the reason why, when L'OCCITANE decided to just drop the bomb and launch a whole freaking range of men's grooming and skincare, my jaw dropped, dragging it to the boutique to spy, touch it, smell it and eventually buy it myself. And why not?
The total range!
The Eau De CEDRAT EDT - Size: 100ml, if I am not mistaken, RM228.00 (GST inclusive)
Across its range, it has this irresistible ultra-fresh and zesty fragrance,
This range is inspired from the rugged citrus fruit - giving the range, a fresh, energizing and rawness of nature smell in every single product in the Cedrat range - especially the Eau de Cedrat fragrance. I kid you not, and the best way to illustrate this to you is for you to watch this video:
And because of this, this rare and mysterious fruit boast of sparkling pulp with energizing properties and it's good, because it helps to invigorate your skin.
Yes, this rugged, thick skinned citrus fruit will give you that refreshed look you needed - for me, I just love the smell, instantly give me that rejuvenate feeling!
So, now, #backtonature and basic is not that hard people! And yes, I tried it two of the products!
And I am so pumped, I actually did a photoshoot with this.
Introducing the L'OCCITANE CEDRAT range for MEN!
On a personal level, I do love citrus stuff. Lemon, grapefruits, orange and so much more - instantly give you the FRESHNESS you need! The L'OCCITANE CEDRAT Pure Cleanser is 150ml, RM88.00 (GST inclusive) and L'OCCITANE CEDRAT After Shave is 75ml, RM129.00 (GST inclusive).
Look at the "scrub" in the cleanser! It look like lemon zest, ain't it? I wished it had more of those "scrub".
The fragrance: zesty punch, super fresh, not overly perfumed and not drying after wash! I recommended this to those who has normal skin or even dry skin, it doesn't feel dry during wash or after - which is a bonus to me!
And that cream is actually after-shave. It's light and absorb fast! Lightly scented with "lemon/citrus" smell - perfect! Just nice to finish off my grooming before heading out for work or even a date!
And of course, a visit to the store is a must....the rest of the range that I noticed...
L'OCCITANE CEDRAT Stick Deodorant, 75gm, RM91.00 (GST inclusive) L'OCCITANE CEDRAT Global Face Gel - for hydration, mattifying and energizing, 50ml, RM140.00 (GST inclusive)
I noticed that I missed out two more items! I didn't see the shower gel and Cedrat soap! Anyway, the L'OCCITANE CEDRAT Shower Gel is priced at RM88.00 for 250ml; and L'OCCITANE CEDRAT soap, RM29.00 for 100gm!
So I took images from their website....
This is the shower gel - perhaps it was out of stock when I was in the store.
The soap - I personally think it's pretty cool and easy for travel, just throw it in the toiletry bag (placing it in a plastic seal-able bag!) - kalau those want to go camping, ini boleh bawa juga ya....
Just a bit more on the EDT,
And yes, it's a permanent range for L'OCCITANE, available throughout the year dudes!
This EDT, Cedrat Eau de Toilette is a cascade of freshness: a green, citrus-packed and a burst of freshness scent, that bring you back to the undeniably delicate nature of the fragrance is revealed through the bitterness of the woody rind. Fine and distinguished, cedrat asserts its innate elegance, which blends harmoniously with that of bergamot. Aromatic spices and a slightly smoky, woody base enhance the overall impression of sophistication.
For some men, they will be thinking, why not just use any facial wash out there?
But do you know?
1.Skin thickness – a man’s skin is about 25% thicker than that of a woman’s. Unlike women’s skin, where the thickness remains constant until about 50 years old, men’s skin becomes thinner gradually with age. This is a myth buster, ain't it?
2.Collagen density – men have higher collagen density than women, which is why they appear to age slower. However, daylight exposure and lack of sunscreen can accelerate the ageing process in men. Aha! Time to maintain that collagen level and maintain your look as soon as you can....
3.Texture – as the stratum corneum is thicker, men have rougher skin. Sebum production is also greater in men, so they suffer from acne problems, even during adulthood. That being said, we need to have good oil control skincare or good cleansing habits! Some peeps I know, hits the bed without even washing his face at night!
4.Hydration – men product more lactic acid in their sweat, and sweat more than twice as much as women. However, because of this, their skin is better-hydrated than women’s. Bingo! :)
Just a bit more on the products:
1.Pure Cleanser (150ml, RM88)
Infused with exfoliating particles derived from lemon rind, this facial gel-scrub transforms into a rich, creamy foam that deep-cleanses to get rid of dead cells and impurities effectively. After use, skin feels purified and energized, ready for shaving or skincare products.
2.Global Face Gel (50ml, RM140)
Like a powerful stimulant, organic CEDRAT extract boosts the energy reserves of skin cells. Enhanced by a multi-mineral active ingredient, this gel moisturizer invigorates, hydrates and prevents excess shine to give you refined, clear and matte skin all day.
A consumer test on 30 men over 4 weeks revealed that:
Skin is hydrated 100%
Skin texture is refined 93%
Skin is energized 93%
Skin is invigorated 90%
Excess sebum is neutralized 83%
3.Shaving Gel (150ml, RM84)
Upon contact with damp skin, this fresh gel becomes a dense, creamy foam to protect skin against the sharpness of a razor blade, helping to ensure a smooth, precise shave every time. Skin feels less tight and irritated, and is softer, clearer and more energized.
4.After-Shave Cream Gel (75ml, RM124)
Perfect as a post-shave treat, this light cream-gel sinks into skin without leaving behind an oily film. Visibly hydrated, skin feels soothed, soft and comfortable.
As for the fragrance, which is fresh, masculine and refined, it has a slightly woody scent of CEDRAT is immortalized in this range of fragrance products, this woody citrus has a key scent from CEDRAT (citron) essential oil.
Like a precious elixir, Eau de CEDRAT is housed in a flask-style bottle. The lacquered, coloured glass recalls both the skin and the freshness of the CEDRAT, while the silver label brings to mind a chic and elegantly masculine side. At first whiff, experience a cascade of freshness: the scent is green, citrusy, joyful and sparkling, all at the same time. Then, very quickly, the delicate nature of the fragrance is revealed through the bitterness of the woody rind. Fine and distinguished, CEDRAT asserts its understated elegance, complemented with a hint of bergamot. At the very end, slightly smoky, woody base notes enhance the impression of sophistication.

2.Soap (100g, RM28)

The extra-large, ultra-masculine bottle fits easily into the palm of your hand. In one single step, cleanse the body and hair with this fresh shower gel for an enjoyable shower experience.
4.Stick Deodorant (75g, RM88)
Designed to neutralize unpleasant odours, this stick deodorant glides easily over skin without leaving traces. Formulated without aluminium salts as a natural and non-toxic choice.
I am not sure if L'OCCITANE still running any promotion but this seems like a cool deal!
The must "smell" good set I believe! Psssst, new year is near.....
So there you go gentlemen, time to get clean with L'OCCITANE CEDRAT! Happy trying out!
This weekend, even if you don't have time.... you gotta watch this movie - Maze Runner: The Scorch Trails - perhaps not gonna be running much time on cinema, so better catch it.
I have to say, I like zombies (think The Walking Dead) and I like Hunger Games. So this is like.... the perfect blend of both. Tammy (my blogger friend) said it's a lot like The Island, that clone people and harvest organ - well, agreeable, in this case, harvesting blood for.....immunity.
The maze was just the beginning - and still is the beginning. LOL! Image credit
And if you haven't even watch the trailer, you should. I'll make it easy for you, click and watch the trailer right here on my blog:
This action movie, is pretty draggy - the first 30 to 45 mins or so, they are trying to figure out whether they are with the good guys or the bad guys. Apparently, it's bad. Before you can figure it out, it's pretty confusing.
It's about 132 mins running time. It is directed by Wes Ball.
Love zombie? Love Hunger Games? This is for you. Image Credit
I tend to like this girl at the last part of the movie.
Asian's favourite, yes?
So yes, these Gladers have no choice but to brutally face their greatest challenge for now, searching for clues on whether the party who "saved" them is the good ones or the bad ones - of course, our main hero can smells something fishy is going on. Yes, they gather up and run for their life - again.
This run is slightly different. It bring them to Scorch, filled with obstacles and finally managed to team up with the resistance fighters.
Along the way, zombies made their way into the screens but they are faster, meaner and more... expressive! Thanks to technology I guess!
Although the ending is pretty abrupt but I do enjoy it throughout the movie! If there's a rating system for my blog, I will rate this movie four stars out of 5. Yupe, a **** rating! :)
This movie, woah, I shall keep the review really short.
I have to say in two words. Yes, just two words.
Typical and expected.
This movie features Isla Fisher, Gillian Jacobs and Jim Parsons (yes, that American guy who played Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory) and this movie is by Blumhouse Productions - which I think has good line up of good movies. But, to my surprise, nope. It's not as good as I thought it will be. I know it's gonna be simple, but well, I didn't know it's gonna be that simple.
I definitely did not expect that this movie is as dry as your dehydrated guava peels and as bad as your cracked heels.
The synopsis is pretty simple. One woman accident, got pregnant, move to a new house that has bad record (perceived to be), padahal, whatever that is happening to her, visions she experience is premonition to what is going to happen to her and her hubby and survived.
Yupe, that's it. #thisisit
It's still a horror movie but one that has not much of horror, not rich, simple plot, no twist, just....simple, dry, flat horror movie that leave you feel.... "what did I just watched?" #FML
Like..... well, like this:
Yupe, exactly how I feel about this movie. https://archive.moe/a/thread/102766375/
You can watch this in GSC cinema, it's distributed by GSC by the way, and it last about 82 minutes.
So if you got nothing much to do this weekend, have 82 minutes to spare, you can watch this.
I remember reading this word when I am just a little child. I came across this word in one of the many private tutoring sessions given by my very beloved Malay teacher, at her home, I read this word out loud but do not quite understand it. It is found in Kamus Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka (yes, I read the entire kamus, thanks to my Malay teacher, and I thank her for that, Puan Khadijah, if you are reading this, I want to tell you that, you're a great educator, I can't thank you enough!).
Merdeka as defined by DBP, just in case you don't know what it means. :P
And, I usually do not post things about politics or personal views that is sensitive in such public avenue, but then, I then ask myself, if I am expressing my love for my country, why not? Who is stopping me to declare my love for my country? And it is the time of the year where we celebrate our nation and with so many things going on, it's time to hear what some of us has to say, if some politicians is reading this. This is our voice and how we feel about Malaysia and what it means to be merdeka.
So I started a question on social media about what it means to be merdeka or simply express your love for the country.
I can write what I want, but I don't want to do it alone. I want to hear from Malaysians. Although, I admit, I didn't get a lot but here's some I managed to get some and it's interesting.
I took this shot in PJ. I feel very proud to be Malaysian.
And of course, before we go to those entries, I watch some cool advertisement and some touching ones from independent producers and Youtubers. Some of the interesting ones, I stick it here for you, do watch it.
From TheMingThing "Janji Kita Tahu (As Long As We Know)":
And then of course, very meaningful one from Petronas:
Petronas Merdeka and Malaysia Day 2014: A Walk Through Time:
And then we got this, if you have time, please do watch this video from MAS.
Sometimes, we don't have to search high and far. The answer might be in front of you (or near you), only if you care to open your eyes and that we need each other to be successful and be happy, as a nation. As much as I agree with charity starts at home, I say, starts from your heart.
So, if you got more time, watch this interesting video I found, also by Petronas but I never really seen it before, but after watching it, I realized, we can work together as a nation (I always wonder, why not? Who to say we can't?)
And now, the real deal.
Here's some of the entries I got (thank you peeps for sending it to me.... much appreciated!!!)
First stop.... a short, simple but nicely done, is by Tammy Lim, she is one of the top female blogger in Malaysia.
She said: Despite all that, I'm still proud to be a Malaysian because of the hearts that stand united for the love of this country
I get her. I am not about you. Despite what situation we face at times, we look for hope and people for stand with us, that is what fuels and build the nation.
Shaiful, who is a celebrity copywriter and fashion critique (glam sangat his title....), please follow him on IG: shoeboy5684
He has something to say:
Malaysia to me is more than just a country ー it's home and a state of mind. It's a piece of land that stretches from the Thai border down to the coast of Johor, bordering Singapore. I was lucky to be born here circa 1980s. In fact I consider myself lucky to be born post-Independece because compared with the time when my parents were born and grew up (1950s to 1970s), there are so many opportunities laid in front of me. Men and women enjoy equal rights in almost everything and there was little censorship imposed on the art scene - a true sign that we were progressing back then. Though it seems to me that the new generation today are so inclined to go backwards all in the name of protecting religion sanctity as well as the humongous dark clouds that have been lingering above our political landscape (and don't get me started on the Ringgit devaluation), rest assured I have not lost my hope on this country. As what most people in their golden years would tell you, 58 is still young, I believe Malaysia still have a long way to go in becoming a truly progressive and developed nation - just as what our previous leaders had always dreamed. And when the day comes, I can imagine seeing Tunku looking at us from above with ear to ear grin, thanking each and every Malaysian for fulfilling his dream. Happy Merdeka! <3
I think he is thinking what to write, expression has never been so glam before. LOL!
Tak punya seindah negeri selain negeri sendiri, tak punya nikmat cinta selain cinta pada tanah air sendiri, tak punya bangga lain selain menjadi anak emas tanah Malaysia ini. Salam Merdeka ke-58. Moga Malaysia MASIH & KEKAL aman!
I have almost the same sentiment as Innanie. After travelling quite a bit, I still love Malaysia - especially my hometown. And I am proud to be Anak Malaysia, ini tanahairku! Yes lah, some genius politicians say I am not bumiputera, well.... that's what you say, I say, I am pure "bumiputera" in many ways, that make me a true Malaysian. Sound sensitive to say, but really? Do we want to stick to just titles and glory? It's a bit over I think. Ape zaman you live in? Like it or not, I am pure-breed Malaysian, lahir kat sini, fasih Bahasa, makan dan minum, tarik nafas pun sama macam you all. What makes me different? I can't find any.
One of my friend, got creative. If you want to follow him.....make him famous, you can follow him on IG. And Kian draw his expression as seen here:
He said: When you can see pass the skin colour that separates us and start focusing on the beautiful things inside, you will find that we all can speak the same language... MANGLISH. #malaysiaunite #projekmalaysia
I seldom see this guy expressing anything but what he did, shocked me, I didn't even know he draws. OMG. I am so touched! So let's speak Manglish now people!!!!
Another entry is from Waylon, also a friend of mine.
Pretty straight forward and to the point.
When I was abroad, people asked me, "How does a Malaysian dish usually taste like? is it spicy? is it sweet? is it salty?" I replied: "There's no one particular Malaysian dish, but it is a combination of dishes and flavours on the same table that makes it Malaysian."
Using food to explain simple logic and concept, is such a spot on! How can we just have bread saje kan? We have assam pedas, chicken rice, chappati, kari.....ok, I am hungry. But you get it.
Add on:
Misz-Ella, one of my blogger friend, although lambat, tapi takpe, asalkan hati tetap sayangkan Malaysia, I feature juga! Terima kasih kerana mencurahkan sayang pada negara beb! <3
I have to say, she really look hard and deep into that MY word. Really that much of love ya? LOL!
Earlier this year, we had a fun, simple project, it's called #projecthometown. I went back to Melaka and this old house of mine.
Yupe, orang Melaka should know this house! LOL!
I can't help but remembering all the beautiful moments I had there. As a child, I do not know what is the concept or the meaning of racism, politics, money, hatred, grudges, Cina, Melayu, India and so on. What I know and still have in memories is:
I have a "girlfriend" who we always hang out together, play together, spend time together either at my house or her house. Our parents is ever so happy and very welcoming. When I go over to her place, auntie always welcome me and I am spoilt with cookies and tea. I am Chinese, she is Indian.
Opposite this house, it's Klebang Beach (not the one you see today), it's open beach and got nelayan banyak-banyak tu, rest there after a long day at sea. I usually play at the beach (not usually, I memang tiap-tiap hari kat sana pun) and hang out with pakcik-pakcik. I eat what they bakar, it's either ikan, prawn or horseshoe crabs (yes, they exist last time!).... I tell you, they so sayang me! I am Chinese, pakcik-pakcik semua Malay.
I go to TES (before SFI) - TES stands for Tengkera English School. No one kecoh pun about the name. Why not Tengkera Malay School? No such need, jangan lebih sangat. Most of my friends is Malay, tak kecoh pun, semua steady je....
But because I never had to call another person differently or label them, I never knew we are different. As stern as my father is, and at times, he is ridiculously garang, he always ask me to respect everyone. I guess now I know what he means.
I remember that I travelled to Taiwan alone, years ago. First 3 days is good. Then it hits me hard. I want nasi lemak. Then assam pedas sudah dalam mimpi I. Laksa..... kari ayam, rendang... unbelievable that I am actually home sick. How weird is that. What is even more weird is that, when I am coming home, on the plane, while the plane is descending, I saw KLIA and the land. I tear up. Why? I don't know. I am just happy to be home.
I call this land my home. It's my home and no one shall say otherwise. And you should not let others tell you otherwise.
I know I am not supposed to touch on Bersih. But I attended one of it. I see that it give people a sense of togetherness. After a long time, I finally get back those feeling I once felt when I am still a child. The person who doesn't understand then meaning of racism or being different. I felt so Malaysian. Everyone helping everyone, talking to everyone. It's so beautiful.
So, I know, there's hope.
And I finish this article by asking:
Adakah anda merdeka?
And more importantly, how do we keep our nation and country, MERDEKA?
Jangan dijajah oleh hasut dan orang yang tamak. Biar kita merdeka dari hati, minda dan nurani.
Let's us have hope and faith in this country. Own this country and we will celebrate many more years of kemerdekaan, because end of the day, we are all Malaysians, anak Malaysia, berbangsa Malaysia, berhati dan berjiwa Malaysia.
To Malaysia, I love you and happy birthday. May we merdeka in every way possible!
My Malaysia. I love you!
A Malaysian, who care and love Malaysia,
Deelicious.
But Bath & Body Works helps to simplify it for us - and adding a huge loads of SUNSHINE for you!
This new addition to BBW Signature's Collection is going all the way out to put a smile on your face. It has a fresh, fruity + citrus fragrance with every use. In case you are wondering - it's surprisingly not very "sweet", so I kind of like it lah....
I know it can be traumatizing sometimes to walk in to a personal care retail/shop, surrounded by girls and women. I know. But it's ok, BBW has something for the men too! Hey, we need to look good too peeps!
So here's what you can get at BBW if you walk into the outlet in Mid Valley (newly open btw).
